[LINK] Meanwhile in Austin…

While the media has been captivated by Apple providing half a dozen or so new product announcements, Zynga (the famed creators of copycat timewasting toilet games for Facebook, iOS and Android) have shut down their Austin offices, laying off in excess of one hundred workers and giving them two hours to vacate the premises.

Furthermore, Gamasutra has heard rumours of similar layoffs at the Chicago and Boston offices.

This is brutal, sinister and adds weight to my feeling that we’re heading for the bursting of dot-com bubble 2.0. Zynga has clearly expanded too fast, made a parasitic business model, and their employees are being left to pick up the slack.

Simply outrageous.
